stereo v mono file siz - stereo file is same size as mono file

Recording mp3 files with iSound I find that a mono file is the same size as a stereo file (using the same bite rate and sample rate and being of equal length).

Shouldn't the mono file be half the size of a stereo file in this case?

No, file size depends only from slected bitrate. In mono mode you will get better quality with same file size.
