Recording pitch/tempo unstable

Post by millers@lls.edu »

We have found that a number of recordings speed up to about twice normal speed for about 2 minutes, returning to normal speed after about 5 minutes. This occurs throughout the duration of the recordings. We are using volume normalization during compression and compressing to 64K .mp3 format.

This is really strange, MCRS doesn't have any DSP code to change the pitch or tempo.
Have you seen any warnings in log file? Something like "connection lost"?

Please send recording sample to support@abyssmedia.com

Sorry. I'm having trouble finding the log files. I am checking AppData for all local users to no avail. Please point me in the right direction.

Start MCRS, select View->View Logs and you will get a list of log files.

Sorry for the long silence. I see nothing unusual in the log files. The problem with the recording speed we are experiencing seems to be impacted by the length of time the windows machines we are running MCRS on remain up and running. Re-booting seems to reduce the number of instances. I have sent a sample via email...

"It looks like the portions of audio data are dropped due to high CPU or disk usage. Try to decrease the sampling rate to 22050Hz if you record only voices."

THANK YOU, YOUR SUGGESTION SOLVED THE PROBLEM.
