I got a HD tv for Christmas and it has audio out (digital, optical, and analog) that I am sending through my computer sound card and then to my speakers. Can I record audio from over-the-air broadcasts? What source do I choose and how can I determine if there is any embedded ID tags?

Thanks!

Yes, you can record audio from Line-in. Recording source may be "Line in" or "Stereo Mix"
You can not determine ID tags because you can get only audio data from sound card.

Thanks! One follow-up. Can I parse or "cut-up" the audio I record? If I accidently record say, a commercial, can I cut-and-splice a single audio stream into several files and make individual .mp3 files out of them?
