4 simultaneous USB microphone inputs?

Post by Kraden »

Hi guys, I'm runnin an amaeture podcast with 4 hosts. At current we run 2 omnidirectional microphones on 2 Laptops (over USB). As suich we've had sound troubles from differences in voice and distance.

I'm excited about purchasing MCRS for our show as it will allow each host to have a seperate microphone and levels.

I was wondering if your software can run 4 USB microphone inputs simultaneously? I'd prefer not to buy the software to find out it can't do what I think it can.
If so it will save me a lot of headaches during editing and make for a better show.

Notes:
I don't have a soundcard? Should I purchase one?

Would I be better off spending >$3000 for an 4-input audio board and Pre-compressor microphones?

What audio hardware you have? It could be a four stereo sound cards for 8 channels or single multichannel sound card or multiple USB devices.

Hey support im in the exact same boat as the guy above me. Working on an amateur podcast and looking for a way to record 4 microphones at once on one laptop. Is there an external audio card i can look at? Can i just plug 4 usb microphones into the usb jacks and get it to work, or do i need a $500 mixing board?

Again thanks for your help.

MCRS system was tested with RME FireFace 400 sound card (firewire connection).
USB microphones should work too, but...

- all microphones will have same name
- system may be crushed if you disconnect one microphone

We have repeatedly noticed significant sampling rate deviations in the cheaper cards, so we recommend products from well-known manufacturers.
