Optimization for Multi-core Processors

Audio Converter Plus delivers significant performance gains on computers with multi-core AMD or Intel processors by harnessing the full power of the CPU. Taking advantage of multi-core computing technologies, Audio Converter Plus enables efficient decoding, resampling and encoding of audio files.

A regular audio converter can only use one CPU core, so you'll never get the benefit of a new multi-core CPU. You'll see something like this:

Early versions of our converter used a pipeline mode, when decoding and encoding were distributed between two processor cores. This gave a win on the first generation of Intel Core Duo and Quadro processors. In Task Manager it looked like this:

With the increase in the number of cores, further parallelization of processes was required and now performance grows linearly and is limited only by the throughput of your hard drive. When converting a full album, the processor is loaded at 100%.

To ensure that you can work comfortably on your computer during conversion, we make it possible to limit the number of cores used and reduce the priority of the conversion task.
