AudioRetoucher can detect the tempo values of downloaded music in beats per minute (BPM for short). During the calculation, the detector determines the tempo of the source file. The current tempo value is displayed on the right and is calculated from the original value, taking into account active effects such as tempo or speed.
If you want to calculate BPM for several audio files at the same time, you can use our separate tool - tuneXplorer, which processes audio recordings in batch mode.
The detector is capable of analyzing music with changing tempos. To do this, it determines when the tempo changes and breaks the audio composition into separate segments with the same tempo. At the end of processing, it selects the BPM value that has the longest total duration. This way you can avoid problems with songs with slow intros.
The range of values returned by the detector is from 50 to 250 beats per minute. Please note that the BPM algorithm cannot be 100% accurate, so it will return zero values for very short songs or songs with long pauses.
Another problem you may encounter when estimating tempo is something called octave error. It is inherent in all software detectors and results in half or double the BPM value. Since only the user can correct this error, we show the result of the calculation and allow you to correct the value yourself.
